Van Halen Format: Audio CD Rock Editorial Review
The 5150 Expanded Edition has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers, many of whom cherish the album as a pivotal moment in Van Halen's musical evolution. This collection is particularly praised for marking the iconic debut of Sammy Hagar as the lead vocalist, ushering in a new era for the band after the departure of David Lee Roth. Listeners describe the album as "upbeat" and commend the energy that Hagar brings to the music, with many noting that his vocal prowess and performance levels enhance the overall listening experience. The album is celebrated not only for its catchy tracks, such as the title song "5150," "Why Can't This Be Love," and "Dreams," but also for its instrumental quality and production, which, while criticized by some for being keyboard-heavy and featuring electronic drums, does not deter music lovers from enjoying its content. Fans appreciate the combination of pop elements with rock, and many suggest that this marks a peak in Van Halen's career. Overall, customers find the album stands out as a strong alternative to their earlier works, particularly "1984," and appreciate the revival of classic tracks in a new format through this expanded edition. In summary, the 5150 Expanded Edition is not just a nostalgic trip for long-time fans, but also a valuable addition for new listeners wanting to experience the band's transition in sound and style during the Hagar years. **
