The cover can resist heat, and a heating lamp can be placed on it, but the plastic frame may warp with too much heat. The prongs on the inside lip may not match all tanks. Some customers have received a different product from what was advertised, which can be disappointing, but most customers have found it to fit perfectly or to be exactly what they needed. The sliding cord feature is a plus for some as well.
