The Removable Water-Based Resist is a liquid that goes on transparent and is used to draw the borders of an image in silk to stop the flow of dye at resist lines. It is perfect for painting on silk, and it can also be used with screen-printing techniques. The masking fluid is an excellent substitute if applied on a heavy paper of 140 or 300 weight. It creates a solid resist barrier, does not soak into paper fibers, and peels off when you’re done. The Resist goes on smoothly, can be applied in a fine line using a squeeze bottle and metal tube tip. While it takes a while to dry, it makes excellent lines that don’t penetrate with dye, even if you get it on the resist lines. It’s easy to remove, even after steaming, as it rubs off in cold water with a little silk detergent.
