The stand can hold a heavy studio style microphone in an inverted position mounted to the desk top via the table clamp, elevated similar to the picture so as to accommodate desk space. The stand comes with both the screw down mount and the clamp mount. While they will extend their full length (about 36 inches), the recommended functional distance in the installation is about 24 inches and still hold the microphone in a comfortable position. The stand can not only be mounted to the table but can also be safely mounted to the ceiling upside down. However, the boom arm may not be long enough for a tall ceiling.
