"The Flesh Eaters" is a low-budget monster movie with a ridiculous plot and cheap effects, but its visual style stands up to many A-list pictures. The appearance of the beatnik and the insane things he says are worth the wait. The film loses its taut atmosphere due to scenes that linger too long on actors looking at each other. The DVD packaging shows care has been put into the largely forgotten film. The acting is overly dramatic but puts up feels for typical macho men and other 1950s stereotypes.
